Okay, I know that you came to this site to learn something about the shotshell head (commonly called a headstamp in metal detecting circles) that you found.

First things first, this database only contains dug shotshell heads that are in my possession. This means that there is the off chance that your headstamp might not be listed here. If you cannot find it, please email me as I can probably still help you.

The first thing that you need to do is to determine the manufacturer. The second thing thing is to determine the line of shell. Finally, if needed, you can try to see if I have the specific variety listed that you have.

Generally speaking, the manufacturer will be identified by the writing on the top, or 12:00 position of the headstamp. There are exceptions to this rule though. One major exception to this, is some of the United States Cartridge Company's headstamps. Several of theirs will have a 'U' in the 9:00 position and a 'S' in the 3:00 position. The name for the line of shells is usually at the bottom, or 6:00 position with the gauge being indicated on the left and/or right sides of the head (9:00 and 3:00 positions). Please see below.

Other things to pay attention to is the primer style (with a primer cup and without a primer cup), design around the primer and the "design" on the outside of the cup. Please see below.

If you click on the database link, you will probably find the manufacturer there. Just click on the link that has the same wording that is on your headstamp. If you still have problems, please contact me and I will try to help you as best as I can.
